The “Bethanien” Social Welfare Services Union was founded in Zurich in 1911.

Its roots go back to Christian values and the diaconal tradition of welfare for fellow men. “Bethanien” Social Welfare Services is a relief organisation, constituted according to the principles of a private company and affiliated to the Evangelical Methodist Church. It is especially committed to the care for elderly persons, to women and children in emergencies and to psychological advice.

On 1 August 2004, PHS was acquired by the “Bethanien” Social Welfare Services Union as a full subsidiary.
